Ben Nevis- 4th June 2012 :- Updated/ Photos
So the tents packed up and I am heading West, firstly a blog on yesterday. I was up early and after getting some supplies and getting changed, I walked from the campsite to the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre at the base of Ben Nevis for my 4th Accent of 'the big yin'... I was hoping for some views on my 4th attempt, and I wasnt to be disappointed...

Started the climb at 11am.. Many of you reading this have probably done it before. Its not the most exciting of climbs initally, IMHO it was bloody busy, well what would you expect- the sun was shinning and it was a Bank Holiday!..
I took the normal route up with a plan to divert of the normal tourist track further up. The climb is actually very easy, the worst thing it getting overtaken by nutters running up or getting caught behind some auld dear.
2 things amazed me- The amount of people taking their dogs up it, want uncommon to see a dog with paw covers on... and the number of young kids... and I mean young.. some 4/5 years old I noted doing this. Hats off to them!.
So progressing up you pass the lake, I remember this (last time I did Ben Nevis was 15 years ago).. - As I got near the top it was getting chilly, and I had shorts on and a t shirt, so the fleece came on. - then we had Snow, lots of it...

I got to the top in just under 3 hours minus all the bloody photos, viewing and videos.... I was amazed at how busy it was... I saw 2 guys with mountain bikes and 2 couples that brought their babies up- yes - babies (under 1 year old!)- Madness... Also I passed some 1 with open toe-ed sandals on. - Tits!
[caption id="attachment_992" align="aligncenter" width="614"] Me at the Top![/caption]
I stayed at the top for around 45 mins, had some lunch perched on a 1000 cliff drop and took in some spectacular views. Made some phone calls as I was amazed I could get a signal then started the decent... 2 hrs later I was supping a pint of Nessy's mash in Ben Nevis Inn at the base as a reward...

So in summary a great DAY... photos to follow!
I remember climbing Ben Nevis a few years ago with Karyns' dad and it was the Ben Nevis hill race. There were about 100 people running up Ben Nevis in a race. I thinking the time that won it was something like 45 minutes !
