Road Trip - !

Image
Today we travelled nearly 500 miles from our home in South West Scotland to our overnight stay in Ashford, some 20 miles from Folkstone. Armed with Scott's new bike we planned a few hours to see their new home in Hinckley, meet the new dog and grab some lunch. Left home at 830 am and after a couple stops arrived in Hinckley at 230pm. Enjoyed a good catch up then went for an Indian buffet with the girls and Scott and Karyn, before chilling in the sun before heading back off. We left Hinckley at 530pm via M1, M25 then onto route towards Folkstone. Forgot the bloody Grand Prix was on so a very long 4 hr drive ensued........ Start stop for well over 100 miles. Anyway got here at 930pm. Quick light bite and hyper kids to bed. - up sharp mora. Euro tunnel then drive towards the Netherlands. Gulp.

Got there just after 1030am.... 1. Visitor Centre shut until further notice. 2. 2 cars in Car Park. We did the blue route, only 7 miles, last few miles were nice but after Glentress last week we both agreed we were left rather at an Anti Climax... - After we went a dauner.... me leading. Ended up in Newton Stewart. By time we got back to Glentrool we did 27 miles. After that we went to Ayr for a few beers and an early night for me... - Sunday I was up bright eyed and bushy tailed. Headed to Ayr, not knowing where to go on old faithful. Headed up the coast towards Irvine, and thought fuck it, Im going to Paisley, via the cycle path for Lochwinnoch. It was a nice sunny day, and its quite a nice run. - After getting to Paisley I was feeling the heat, out via Barrhead, and back to the A...

Glentress - 1/2nd June 2013

Image
Spent Sunday and Monday there this week as per introduction in last post. Sun done around 20 miles, exploring green route couple times then the blue route twice. We were staying in the Wigwams, which are attached to Glentress. Finished our run around half 6, then after a freshen up went into Peebles for a beer and some food. Wasn't a late night, so following morning I was up well before 8 and cycled into Peebles to collect car. After breakfast at the Glentress cafe we decided to tackle the red route. This was the highlight of the day, especially at the summit at Spooky Woods. After a hard climb, an fantastic return downward journey. The weather was fantastic on Sunday. The sun was shining and glentress was filled to the gunnels. - Monday different story. Cloudy but very warm and place very quiet, which we found actually a lot better. Left Glentress around 3pm. I dropped Neil off then on way home did a quick bolt around Whitelee Wind farm, well as I had never been before. Excellent...
