Hammys 124 Mile Cycle weekend- Glasgow to Edinburgh and Back 25/26th August 2012
This weekend has been a cracker and i have set a new personal achievement on the miles covered over a 24 hr period and indeed a week. From last monday I have done over 175 miles on my bike in a week.. - Not bad eh? (For me anyway).
We had planned a night away in Edinburgh to celebrate our 14th Wedding anv which was last wednesday. I had always wanted to do the canal path from Glasgow all the way to Edinburgh and thought that this would be a great opportunity to do it.
I had also signed up to do a 100 cycle on Sept 9th but I am unable to take part as I am stocktaking at work, so decided that I would do this run both ways.- total distance 120 give or take. inc cycle to hotel.
Also I decided to try and raise some money for the ongoing Alfie Sharp Appeal and make my run thus worthwhile.

Neil came along with me for the Glasgow to Edinburgh route after a night out, and he was clearly hung over. Normally I'm trying to keep up with him but not this time… haha
Time going was around 5hr15, and after a couple beers with Neil to celebrate our achievement I had another 4 mile cycle to the hotel to meet Maryann who had driven up.
Chilled for a bit then a shower, change of clothes - we headed into Edinburgh for a night out. Nice meal at Illegal Jacks, then we meant around the Grassmarket and beyond to some very busy pubs, just beneath the castle.
Finished a good night devouring a sausage supper at 2am, then back to the hotel....
Today I was up early as I had agreed to do the return journey back to Glasgow, and anyway had to pick the car up.- I set off around 1030 am and was releived that it nice and dry. -A rather sore arse this time, knackered and after slightly getting lost I arrived back at the start in around 5 hours again. Mauckit and knackered!!
So an end to a great weekend, and thanks to those who gave me some of their hard earned cash.
Tonight I will sleep LOL
