Hammys 124 Mile Cycle weekend- Glasgow to Edinburgh and Back 25/26th August 2012

Image
This weekend has been a cracker and i have set a new personal achievement on the miles covered over a 24 hr period and indeed a week. From last monday I have done over 175 miles on my bike in a week.. - Not bad eh? (For me anyway). We had planned a night away in Edinburgh to celebrate our 14th Wedding anv which was last wednesday. I had always wanted to do the canal path from Glasgow all the way to Edinburgh and thought that this would be a great opportunity to do it. I had also signed up to do a 100 cycle on Sept 9th but I am unable to take part as I am stocktaking at work, so decided that I would do this run both ways.- total distance 120 give or take. inc cycle to hotel. Also I decided to try and raise some money for the ongoing Alfie Sharp Appeal and make my run thus worthwhile. Here is link -  http://www.justgiving.com/Alex-Hamiltonfeb26th Neil came along with me for the Glasgow to Edinburgh route after a night out, and he was clearly hung over. Normally I'm trying to keep up ...

So we are on the plane returning home as I write this blog on my phone. The iPod is on and the earphones are in. We are settled.- Coffee. In hand. - Time to reflect as the sun sets on our 2012 summer holiday and as of Monday, I return to work. Grr ! A bit late getting to bed on the last night. We went to the Guinness Tavern which became our venue of choice for dinner. In fact - we went 4 times ! Fantastic service and notably no1 venue in Salou according to trip advisor. Naturally I had to have the large sirloin on my last night. Accompanied of course with a peppercorn sauce lol. After dinner we went to the Flower of Scotland bar where Andrew is quite the star on the karaoke and pals with the resident DJ - Craig. Andrew belted out a few Queen classics before we said our goodbyes. Finally a quick visit to Chaplins then up the road at nearly 2am. - A bit late to say the least. Lol Bleary eyed we were picked up at 745 am from the hotel and the customary run around the local hotels which ...

Last Day - Salou [Blog]

Image
Morning people. Well today's our last full day. Been a good holiday, as you know you make your own. Writing this blog, as I lay by the pool - Fly home Sunday morning. Yesterday we went to the local waterpark. I did my usual bit of moaning at the cost. Then having to pay for the extras once your in. Sun lounger, rings etc - Justifiably I felt lol. Anyway we were there till shutting and this defo worked in our favour as the crowds eased off and we were able to get on most of the rides again with little waiting time. After we returned home we went to the Guinness Tavern again for dinner. - fantastic place. Well today's just laying by pool and dinner tonight. Early rise Sunday for flight home. Grr. Haha
