London Day 3: Saturday 7th April 2012

As I write this I've 4 hours plus to kill so thought well why not catch up on my blog on day 3 and 4 of London. Today started very early for me anyway. I decided to do a solo trip to St Paul's Cathedral and based on my calculations I left at 730am. Place opened at 830am. I got their quite sharp. Back of 8am. A coffee from Costa, and I sat on the steps of St Paul's, and enjoyed the silence. Bliss. Place was silent. Great 20 mins lol .. Haha. My London pass got me access to the cathedral and access to the whispering gallery and above. I am at home doing stuff like this, enjoying the audio guide, emersing myself in the history and magical architecture.... The whispering gallery opened at 930am and I walked up to the top. They say it's 257 steps to the top. I counted 255. Obviously I am wrong lol. Haha. I got some great photos of the London skyline albeit it being very cloudy. I had arranged to meet MA and the kids outside St Paul's then we were going to go and meet Ka...

London Day 4: Easter Sunday 8th April 2012: Trip to LegoLand Windsor.

Image
Today was all about the kids and involved a trip to Lego land at Windsor. I will admit I did not actually plan any of the traveling for this, unaware of where to go initially, doing it as we went lol. This was a major fail on my part. Last 3 full days were clearly showing. We all had +10 hrs sleep and did not leave the hotel until 10am. Plan was to leave at about 830am. I thought. It's Windsor. Say an hr. The actual journey time was 2hrs 40 mins. 3 underground lines, 2 trains then a bloody bus, so we we did not arrive until gone 1230pm... Lost a couple of hours but place was open till 6pm, so we planned to stay until the end.. Any1 that knows me I moan about prices and this would have been 1 if we were paying full price.. Luckily a combo of tesco vouchers and free entry meant the cost was very little - lol. Result was my preferred comment! Kids had a ball here. Went on most of the rides, twice. The Star Wars exhibition was cool. As was Mini-Land lol. My feet were pretty sore. A com...

Trip to London , Day 2.- Friday 6th April 2012

Today we were up and out by 10AM. Today we were meeting Scott, Karyn and their Kids Caitlin and Zoe for an action packed fun day. We were hoping the sun was going to shine and we were in luck. The day started at the Tower of London and we were there for a good 3 hours. This involved seeing the Crown Jewels, I was amazed how busy this place can get. Then it was lunch time. I spotted a Wetherspoons across the road so in we went for a beer and a burger. The woman had a nice bottle of rose. Kids were fed and watered then we decided to do a Thames cruise which took us down to Greenwich. In the morning the weather was stunning but mid after noon it was cloudy again. But still dry. We took a walk up to the Observatory and kids had an ice cream. We got some stunning views of canary warf , the o2 arena and the Tate modern I believe lol. We then headed back up stream and headed to Westminster again. This involved Andrew yapping to the policemen outside 10 Downing Street lol. Dinner was a simple...

Trip to London - Day 1. Thursday 5th April 2012

Image
So our trip finally arrived and it started very early one Thursday morning. A 330am trip to Glasgow central for the virgin 0428 train to London Euston . Train was on time and the journey was quite painless. Though we did not really sleep. Kids were entertained with books and the iPad lol.. We decided to go straight to Greenwich where we were staying and after navigating our way around the underground we were booked in by 1130am. Quick freshen up and we headed into the city to explore.. We had booked a 3 day London pass as a family of 4 and if you check the website your can see these things ain't cheap but do it right most attractions can work out cheap. First visit was the London Bridge experience. And London Tombs. There was a hell of a queue for this so I was hoping it would be good. And it certainly was. Real life actors brought it all alive, and the tombs has live actors as well. Absolutely brilliant. After lunch we went to Tower Bridge and walked along the walkways and saw so...
