LEJOG Day 2 - To Bath
After a decent kip Myself and Scott had breakfast at Betty Cottles where we had been staying, then made things ready and we were off. Destination Bath.
It was cold, but the sun was out and ground was wet. Rain was forcast in places but what I've found out over the last 3/4 days lol, is rain on. rain off. So now I just keep the jacket off.
We both had routes in our garmin's incase somehow we got lost. But things progressed well. .....
Getting a good pace along we were heading towards Tiverton, the I'm indicated by my side kick the garmin to turn left. It's a dirt track into a field. Lol. Erm naw! - so we seen signs for said Town that was going to be a coffee stop and continue passing through some very scenic Devon Villages....
Cake and Coffee for 11'enses. (This is becoming a trademark as I write this on the morning of day 4 laying on my bed after a hearty breakfast. Chillin for 10 mins before the off. )
We joined the A3295 and pushed onwards the town of Taunton and negotiated our way around the town centre. - 55 miles
After lunch and a refuel of water bottles the farm roads came back in on the way up towards the historic city of Bath.
At 75 we hit Glastonbury. Great place. Shame there wast a gig on. Lol. Another coffee stop.
A long series of flats brought us to Bristol hill. That went on and on and on ....
Think we took every back road into Bath. 95...97...99 all up hill. Once in the city it's a maze of UPHILL streets and downs. My acc was at the top of Brumswick Hill. Hey hoy beautiful scenery as I trundled up the road.
We met Karyn and the girls who had travelled down from Hinckley to pick Scott up. We said our hellos and goodbyes and I thanked Caitlin for the home made flap jacks (2nd helping I may add).
Big thanks to Scott who joined me on the first 2 days. Not only has he hammered a weekend best. He has done 2 100+ mile cycles 2 days running :) - Well done Sir.
So. Finished. Booked into acc. 102m on the clock. Dinner. And Bed. Another good day.
