Trip to Auchrannie, Arran 25-27th February 2012

Last weekend we went to Arran and enjoyed a couple of days near Brodick. This was a special treat also as we were helping Maryann's mum and dad, Jim and Mary McKellar celebrate their 40th wedding aniversary.

We arrived after getting the 1230pm ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick, and MA drove car over to hotel.

Took kids swimming. And enjoyed some general R&R. Dinner in the hotel on 2 nights. On the sun MA and her mum went for a spa treatment while I did the cycle. (see other blog post).

All had a great time. - and of course happy ruby wedding to Jim and Mary.

Its not an uncommon fact that the weather recently has been very poor, a mixture of rain, hail, snow, gale force winds and everything else being chucked at my part of the world. .. so it was a very pleasant change to wake to nice sunny weather - and I thought Im grabbing my bike and going a run for what seems like the first time in weeks. - on a Day Off. Done the usual route home-Kilmarnock, join the cycle path to Irvine, then down to Ayr via Troon. Then back up the B743 to Mauchline. 44 Miles and a very good cycle.  Planning more on Sat, Hopefully a 60 Miler. - Weather looks ok..
