The Merrick Climb- 25.6.2010
Wow.. What a great day. I left the house at 530am and went via Dalmellington/Straiton to get to the Galloway Forest and Glen Trool and ‘Bruces Stone’ where is the start point of the Merrick Climb.
Journey there and back approx 9 miles. My extra walking made that about 11 miles covered today…
The Merrick is the highest Scottish hill outside the Highlands. A popular ascent from Glen Trool, it presides high over a wild landscape, thankfully well away from the extensive forestry plantations.
