Arran Trip January 2013
Evening All- Post Trip Blog.. (written sun 27/1/13)
Sitting here after dinner having my 1 x4 quid pint at Auchrannie. lol. kids playing pool, Ill go and beat them in 1 min. Arrived with car sat morning to take ownership of 1 of the lodges for a week, though only here at the moment for 3 days.
I got the earlier ferry over on the sat morning after a fantastic burns supper at Dumfries house the night before. After a couple of whiskys, I had a slight fuzzy head in the morning, but that was gone by the time we were on the ferry.
A couple of friends were tagging along with Maryann and the kids on the next ferry. - 9 of us in a place designed for 6.lol.. - 5 kids ranging from 11yrs to 10 months. - This was always part of the fun.
After their arrival we explored a bit then went to the pool for what seemed hrs. some good fun was well established then it was back to the apartment to chill and the ladies had a well chilled few glasses of wine then we all buggered off for what ended up being a really enjoyable meal in the Cruize Bar area of Auchrannie Spa. - nice end to a good day.
After a good nichts sleep I was up well before 8 and walked into Brodick with Cassie. A very dreek morning, I looked out to the sea and all was wild and I am thinking this aint looking clever.
Went into the local co-op and got served by a guy that resembled a unkept monkey. with an attitude to match. I asked nicely where the papers were and got a huff, sigh and reply of well the ferry has not been yet so obv they are not here. - so he got attitude back. !!
Keeping an eye on the Cal Mac website, discovered that 2 ferrys were cancelled because of the pish weather, and we were infact starting to panic if the guys could get home. Also Maryann who was starting her new job the mora lol...
To take our mind off it, a quick visit to Arran Auromatics, kids made candles. - as the water was off to make soap. Back at the resort we had a good laugh of playing football with the kids.
With 30 mins notice the 440pm ferry was on so our guests and MA left for the short trip back to the mainland.
So Sunday night was me and the kids. Pool again, football then dinner in the cruize was the plan. Monday was to be a day of exploration....... how wrong that was.
Woke the next day and YET AGAIN, WIND RAIN AND MEGA DOWN POURS.- put a bit of a dampener on the last day. but again we chilled, went to the pool... LOL. so not all to bad.
Every ferry was cancelled on Monday, apart from the 440, and I made it with about 3 spaces to go... Lucky to get home after a choppy sail.
So an enjoyable weekend, but dampened cause of shit weather. But thats what happens ...
