Royal Wedding

Image
Well today is 1 of those days that you can say everyone must have seen pictures or video of the marriage of our future King and can proudly say you know what you were doing on Fri 29th April 2011. - for me. I was working and caught up with the footage very quickly at home. Good luck to Both William & Kate. A young couple, like any other starting their married life together. Diana would have been so proud. Today we all saw the next generation of the monarchy and I hope it works out for them. This was my fav Read of the day. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Had a very rare bank hol Monday off after working all Easter weekend. We took the kids into Troon. I've not been there for years despite living only 14 miles away. We parked at Maryann's work and went a stroke along the beach front. Them walked back in via the harbour. Saw some good views of Arran. Well ish. Lol. After that we had an ice cream went back via the town centre. After that kids treated mum and dad to a Carvery at Carlton Prestwick Fantastic meal and an end to a nice afternoon oot! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone Location: Troon.

Ben Lomond, 11.4.2011

Image
Had planned to do this walk from last week and I was encouraged by the weekend weather, so I awoke VERY early this morning for a nice dark drive up to  Rowardennan I got there just before 6am and watched a very eerie and misty daylight begin on Loch Lomond.  This was cool. Very peaceful and the water was so still. Not a soul about. I was now feeling a bit concerned about the weather. I thought not again after my experience at Goat Fell 2 weeks ago. I thought it would clear up, after a fantastic weekend (which I had worked…) lol. Nope I was wrong. Started my ascent and got about half way up and the rain came on. Although it was not windy the walk to the top was not very comfortable. As I type this, I am looking out the window to sunshine and a blue sky. So it appears the big man up stairs has got me twice with the weather..- third time lucky? So photos on the day are poor. And also I forgot to charge the camera so note to self : check weather and charge camera before planning, but anyo...

0416am.

It's currently 416am and I'm wide awake. Messing about on iPad listening to the 100th edition of Dave Pearce podcast. The usual old sleep fail. 1 good thing is I can hopefully have a lay in today. Then go oot on the bike later. It's my day off lol. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Weekend Antics

Image
Had a great few days off. Enjoyed my solo trip to Arran on Fri. (see separate blog). On sat we were supposed to go to Edinburgh for a family day trip but I was a bit sore after my rather daft fall and weather was in the morning anyway - poor. So we are saving that trip for another day. Decided to take kids swimming and went to the Galleon. Kids had a ball and I did a few lengths of the pool. Got to admit I'm a very poor swimmer. After that we went to a very busy mcdonalds with kids. Sat night, myself and maryann's went for a few drinks and dinner and my Dad kindly watched the kids. Was not a late night and on sun my auld heed was a bit sore. First for a while and considering I did not have much IMHO - I must be getting old. Sunday- today was mothers day and the kids gave Mummy their homemade cards and flowers. Then we all had a lovely afternoon meal at the stair inn. Followed by a quick walk around the River Ayr. lovely end to a rare weekend off. - Posted using BlogPress from ...

Goat Fell Walk, Arran, 1st April 2011

Image
Decided to go to Arran and climb the Hill that I've stared at on a good day for the last 36 years lol. This was my first visit to Arran for 18 years. I left at 615 am for the 7am ferry to Brodick. The rain was on when I left but ever the optimised I hoped that it would clear on route. hmmmmm…   Ferry was fine, a bit choppy but on whole ok. I left the ferry port and looked for the signs for track to Goat Fell.. The rain was off, ground was wet but at the time was clear.. I headed out of Brodick towards the castle (2.5 miles) then I saw a sign for Goat Fell. So far so good.  Its a very pleasant walk on route up, as you get further up it get very rock but easy to do in fact. I actually found it sorer coming down than going up as you are always careful where to put your feet esp. if its been raining as I was to later find out. As I neared the summit the weather turned horrendous. Driving rain and gale force winds which nearly knocked me over. I could see about 3metres in fr...
