Burns Night- 2011

Image
Each year for a few days I like to get into the spirit and celebrate the birth of the national baird of Scotland- Rabbie Burns. – 25th January for a few days anyway.. Living in the village where he lived and during at what time he was his most prolific, has a special meaning..- Mauchline I’ve always said that this should be our national day of celebration, celebrated as a bank holiday but will I ever see that in our time. I doubt it lol.. Last Sat I invited 6 friends, and inc my family we had 10 for a small burns supper…, dinner chat and drinks. We all wore a bit of tartan, ‘piped the haggis in’- Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin-race! Aboon them a' ye tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye wordy o' a grace As lang's my arm. said grace and enjoyed a 4 course feast of haggis, neeps, tatties, soup, steak pie and finished off with homemade profiteroles by Maryann.. Enjoying 2 mid week days off. Painted the first of the 4 bedroom planned to do by the end of the week I am off at the start of Feb. Nearly broke my back putting the wardrobes back. lol. Sensible thing would have been to get some one to help me but oh no, not Alex lol.. I opened a cabinet in Andrews room that was our old hi fi cabinet where we normally used to store all my CDs etc. I swear Ive not been in it for 2 years. lol. Holds a collection of about 100 CDs, everything from genesis singles, (yes when the released songs lol), to the dizzy hits of Ibizia hits 2002. Clearly the rhythm here is that Ive not bought CDs for years, and I think back as to how many thousands I spent on wages on CDs. Anyway I'll look through them and see if there is any ripping to the ipod lol... Today- More relaxing. Nip into town and get the stuff for Sat's burns supper lol... Anyway back to my toast and coffee.. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: Welton Rd,Mauchline,United Kingdom

Cyprus Holiday. 2011!

Well. That's it. The holiday for 2011 is booked and we are off to Cyprus on July 17th for 2 weeks. After 5 days of OCD looking we found our holiday. We visited here back in 2006 and we are heading back to a hotel near to where we were the last time in the resort of Pathos. As the English schools have not broke up yet we got a good deal with a flight from Manchester. The 5pm flight means we can leave in the morning so avoid any over night stay. So thus very much looking forward to what hopefully will be a very good holiday. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Zaggmate Keyboard Review..

Quick review of my Zaggmate keyboard. I bought this online from the American website at the end of november as it was almost brand new to the market and I could not as see anywhere in the UK to buy it... Downsides first- took 6 weeks to get here, then I was hit with a 24$ UK tax charge which I had to pay the post office before I got my hands on it, so overall its cost me a lot more than I liked. A mistake I wont repeat. Positives: Keyboard is very responsive via bluetooth. Almost instant. Connection to the ipad is a doodle, and what I like more about it is the fact it doubles as a case for the ipad also. only gripe I think I have is that I think it will scratch easily. This is really the first time I have used it. and I like it. So all positive apart from the tax bill grr... lol - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: Mauchline,United Kingdom

January Blues

January always is the most depressing month of the year. It's widely reported online and it the press as fact. Everyone has that financial hangover from the credit cards etc from Christmas. It's dark, wet, snowy, miserable, dire. Everyone moans about being bloated, over weight- and by week 2 of the month all the resolutions are broken and we still groan and well moan? Much of this fact is true. Was reading in the paper today that there has been a 40 per cent increase in holidays getting booked for the summer this year. My goal by the end of January is to be included in this crowd. For the first 2 weeks in August. So come hell or high water. Our hol will be booked. I hope Maryann agrees lol.. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone Location: Mauchline,United Kingdom

Aviemore Family Break.

Image
Just back from a great weekend in Aviemore. After fri nights big snowfall, we thought that getting there was going to be a nightmare, but we left before 9am, and got here in under 3 hrs. We had lunch in the town then we went for a wander about. Lol within 20 mins Euan had a new hat, gloves and wellies as we had not taken them with us. Organised or what lol. Next we bought the sledge. What a hoot that was. Found a cracking hill that gave us some fun for a few hrs lol. We were staying at the Hilton Coylumbridge http://www.hilton.co.uk/coylumbridge Great place. After a swim and sauna we relaxed for a bit then went for dinner and a few drinks. Kids enjoyed their dinner lol. Obviously as it was just after Xmas the hotel was not that busy. There was some dodgy chuckter scottish dancing and only our Andrew could heckle the piper lol. After breakfast we went a long morning walk then some more sledging before heading south. We stopped off in Pitlochry for some lunch, then got back home early...

First of 2011…

Quick jaunt to my Grans in Drongan, return trip just under 17 miles. First time I had got to see her over Xmas/NY period so was good to catch up and have a chin wag. My over indulgence beers, choc and food showed ha-ha. And it had been almost 2 months since i had been on it. Well wrapped up lol.. Nice chat over a couple rolls and a nice coffee, then biked back.
